Avondale Overlook Apartments

1. The building has roaches. Lots of roaches. I sprayed my unit myself with Home Defense I bought at Home Depot and still saw roaches in my apartment. I only saw 3, however in other areas of the building they did not hide. I've seen so many roaches here at avondale that I am becoming mentally immune. While they used to cause me to literaly jump and scream, I now just walk around. 2. Rude, rude, rude staff. I also made many requests for work to be done to the apartment and it was only completed after I wrote a letter to corporate. 3. Hot water, specifically the lack there of. In the winter there would be days without hot water, and days with it. It was very unpredictable. What was predictable, was that when there was hot water it would come with only one temperature, scolding hot. This is without regard of where you have adjusted the faucet to. 4. Thin walls. It is an older building, and like most older buildings you can hear your neighbors thoughts. (I'm exaggerating a bit) However, the walls are extremely thin, and the tenants seem not to have any respect for their neighbors. 5. An abundance of free roaming cats. This is a double edged sword though. There are no mice. lol 6. Cheap renovations. They just slap a fresh coat of cheap paint on everything and try to call it new. Other than the above complaints. The roaches are out of control. If you don't pay an extra 65$ a month you don't have guarantee parking. If you don't lock your top lock of your front door you can open the door with a credit card.

Finding an afforable place to live in Marylnd or DC in your early 20s is quite a challaenge. Fortunately, I have been living at Avondale Overlook for almost 2 months now and there's one word that I have to describe it: Awesome! With a pool, gym and friendly staff on site, I could not ask for more. Having multiple options as to how to pay rent is a plus too, as many people utilize the option of paying online. Not to mention, my two bedroom apartment is quite spacious and equipped with central air and heat. Our view from the 8th floor is absolutely gorgeous. I have no complaints. One of my biggest concerns when finding a new apartment is the mailing system and how likely I am to receive my package. Thankfully with Avondale Overlook, they will hold your package in the leasing office or deliver it right to your door! The staff is nice building is nice neighbors are polite however there is a terrible roach infestation. The complex offers pest control weekly on Tuesdays but there is still an awful ROACH PROBLEM. This is an abnormal not one or two but killing several throughout the day . I use bait traps spray with the service provided and there is STILL A HORRIBLE ROACH PROBLEM. when your apartment is vacant they will sweep the Roaches and spray which last for the first month or two after that it's nothing you can do to stop it . Also be aware of the towing company that tows cars on the lot even with a sticker. I love staff and building location but I will not renew my lease due to the roach problem and lack of solution to this issue.Read More

I had to walk to blocks to park my vehicle because the lot was full. I work late hours and this is becoming a problem.
